Most frequently, I write direct-to-consumer informative articles, and have experience with promotional materials, social media posts, product descriptions, and improving SEO and usability metrics for live web pages.

When I had this role, I used most of my time helping students achieve the literacy levels they need for success in school and beyond. I also used some of my time to compose, write, and edit informative and persuasive emails to encourage guardians to have an active role in student achievement.

Newport News Public Schools, Newport News, VA - Substitute Teacher

February 2019 - February 2020

In this former role, I helped students as a temporary replacement for a full-time classroom teacher. While I did only a little writing, I was able to communicate with teachers about their students in an effective and professional way through personalized, specific notes about their classes.

I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts in English from Christopher Newport University in the spring of 2020. During my time there, I attended classes while substitute teaching in the surrounding school district, and working seasonally as an employee for a company in northern Virginia. After graduating at the height of the pandemic, a hectic time to find jobs, I established myself as a writer and educator in Virginia.
